  1. Dover comes from the Welsh word Dwr fa which means water way. When Britain was invaded by the English or Anglo Saxon they could not pronounce the R so it became Dw fa then the F was changed to a V so becomes Va and the W in Dw becomes O hence Dova and then DOVER.
